This new release was recorded live, and features music from 3 separate concerts performed between September and December, 2007, both at Mishkan Torah Synagogue in Greenbelt, MD and at Strathmore Hall, Bethesda, MD. The band has gone one extra step by creating a fundraising opportunity for this Synagogue, the location of our first concert of this series. Through this fundraiser, the band is offering this new CD as a pre-release to the public exclusively through Mishkan Torah prior to its formal public release, scheduled for late May or early June. The idea behind this program is that for each $20 CD sold to anyone through this promotion, $5 will go to the Synagogue. Anyone who purchase a CD through this offer will receive their copy before anyone else is able to purchase it. All order will be scheduled to ship within 3 weeks.

The official name of the CD is Unexpected Joy -- The New Klezmer Quintet -- Live In Concert With Ramon Tasat. Brain Choper, the band's drummer and manager writes, "This recording came out very clear, clean and lively." Brian adds, "It's a lot of fun, as it sounds like you are right there in the front row. The way it was recorded, the fidelity is outstanding. Just listen to the sound samples for yourself and see." The CD includes a lively mix of Klezmer, Ladino, and Jazz selections from the shows.
